Location & Directions

The location of the camp is about a 60km drive from Hoedspruit/Eastgate Airport and is an easy self-drive from Johannesburg. Guests access the camp via the Timbavati/Klaserie Gate (Enkhulu Gate).

Self-Drive 

From Hoedspruit, drive towards the Timbavati Control gate and make your way past the Eastgate Airport and towards the Timbavati/Klaserie Enkhulu Gate. 

Sign in and drive straight to the end of the tarred road, roughly 45km. 

Once on the dirt road, follow the Nsala signs for approximately 3km until you reach the camp. Please adhere to the speed limits and give the animals right of way.

Road Transfer

You can arrange a road transfer through our reservations office if you fly from Johannesburg, Durban or Cape Town to either of Hoedspruit or Nelspruit Airports.

Shuttle Service 

A daily shuttle service from Pretoria, Johannesburg and O.R. Tambo International Airport departs at approximately 6 am and arrives at the Timbavati Gate at approximately 1 pm. Return shuttles are also available, and both transfers can be booked through our reservations office.

From Johannesburg

1. From Johannesburg airport, follow the signs to Boksburg to the N12. [HR1] Take the N12 or N4 highway to Witbank or Emalahleni.
2. Follow the N4 highway past Middelburg (Toll Plaza), Belfast and Machadodorp (Toll Plaza). 
3. Follow the Schoemanskloof option on the N4 and then take the R36 to Lydenburg or Mashishing. 
4. Follow the R36 to Ohrigstad. Go through the Strydom Tunnel and take the R527 to Hoedspruit. 
5. Turn right onto the R40 towards Acornhoek and Klaserie. 
6. Continue along this road until you see the turning off to the left for Hoedspruit/Eastgate airport. 
7. Turn left here. 
8. After 300m you will go through a control gate and then head directly for the Timbavati Game Reserve Gate. 
9. You will pass the airport on your left-hand side. 
10. After leaving the control gate, drive 17km and look out for Bush Pub & Inn on your left and Josmacs Bush Pub on your right-hand side. 
11. The Timbavati Gate (Enkhulu Gate) will be in front of you. 
12. Enter at the Timbavati Gate and drive straight until the end of the tarred road. 
13. It is roughly 45km until the end of the tarred road. 
14. At the end of the tarred road, follow the Nsala signs for approximately 3km on a dirt road until you reach the camp.

PLEASE NOTE: Do not follow Google Maps from Hoedspruit, it will take you on a route that is wrong and you will end up getting lost.

From Hazyview

1. Follow the R40 towards Klaserie and Hoedspruit. 
2. About 6 km before you reach Hoedspruit, turn right at the signboard towards Hoedspruit Airport, Thornybush Reserve and Timbavati Reserve (Argyle Road).
3. After 300m you will go through a control gate. 
4. Then head directly for the Timbavati Game Reserve Gate. 
5. After 17km, look out for Bush Pub & Inn on your left and Josmacs Bush Pub on your right.
6. The Timbavati Gate (Enkhulu Gate) will be in front of you. 
7. Enter at the Timbavati Gate and drive straight until the end of the tarred road. 
8. It is roughly 45km until the end of the tarred road. 
9. At the end of the tarred road, follow the Nsala signs for approximately 3km on a dirt road until you reach the camp.
